Gold ETP holdings rise as price slumps while palladium hits new record

Precious metals suffered a major setback during the final week of May as global equity markets and the US dollar rose, thereby further reducing the need for alternative investments. Holdings in exchange traded funds backed by physical gold nevertheless saw their first weekly rise in 11 weeks while silver only felt a light reduction. Both holdings of palladium and platinum reached new record levels.
